蔵本分館では第87回テーマ展示を1階ホールにて行っています。
今回は、臨床神経科学分野講師 藤田浩司先生に監修いただき、「脳と心のしくみと病気」をテーマに関連書籍・雑誌を展示しています。
「脳」と「心」はどう関係しているのでしょうか。ひとつひとつの神経回路が織り上げられて「脳」のネットワークを作り出しています。同じヒトとして似てはいますが，どれ一つとして同じ「脳」ではありません。人によって異なる「脳」のネットワークが，それぞれの「心」を生み出しているのでしょうか。そしてまた，「脳」が損なわれることによって，「心」が変わってしまうこともあるのでしょうか。
脳の解明が進むことによって，科学的に心を知ることができるようになってきました。MRI（磁気共鳴画像法）などの検査で，生きたまま脳の様子を伺うことができます。近年ではfMRI（機能的MRI）などの手法により，どの脳領域がどんな機能を果たすのか，またそれぞれの脳領域がどんなネットワークを作っているのかを，観察できるようになってきました。そうやって脳と心のしくみを知ることは，病気の理解にもつながります。脳の不調が，認知症，脳卒中，不随意運動症などの病気として現れるからです。病気を知ってきちんと診断することで，新しい治療を生み出し，多くの患者さんを救うことにもつながっていくのです。

Notice about 87th Thematic Exhibition "Brain and mind:
mechanisms and diseases" [Life Sciences Library]
The 87th thematic exhibition is being held in the first floor hall
of the Life Sciences Library in Kuramoto. The theme of this exhibition is
"Brain and mind: mechanisms and diseases".
What is the relationship between the brain and the mind? Each
individual neural circuit is woven together to create the network of the brain.
Although they are similar as human beings, no two brains are the same. Do
different people have different brain networks that produce different minds?
And is it possible for the mind to change when the brain is damaged?
With the advancement of the understanding of the brain, it has become
possible to understand the mind scientifically, and through magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) and other tests, it is possible to see the brain in a living
state. In recent years, functional MRI (fMRI) and other techniques have made it
possible to observe which brain regions perform what functions and what kind of
network each brain region forms. This understanding of how the brain and mind
work can lead to a better understanding of diseases. This is because brain
malfunctions can manifest as diseases such as dementia, stroke, and involuntary
movements. Knowing the diseases and properly diagnosing them will lead to
creation of new treatments and saving of many patients.

the Japanese Society of Neurology, the Japanese Society of Neuropathology, and
the Japanese Society of Neurological Therapeutics.
